Li Liu Dazzles MMS
Acrobat Li Liu visited Middlesex Middle School on Tuesday, May 23rd to perform three separate assemblies for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Li Liu dazzled Middlesex with her performance; which included hand balancing, plate spinning, ribbon dancing, Chinese yo-yos and foot juggling. Li Liu also brought up student volunteers from each assembly to learn how to balance plates and perform a ribbon dance.
According to her website, Li Liu has been performing her acrobatics for over thirty years. Born in Shenyang, China, Li Liu won a gold medal for artistic cycling in 1984 at the prestigious Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, France.
Li Liu came to the United States in 2000, where she began performing with the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. She has been freelance since 2003, performing on cruises and at NBA halftime shows. In 2010, she performed on The Late Show with David Letterman.
Li Liu’s performance captured the awe and amazement of Middlesex students. Although, as she told each crowd before being dismissed, “Don’t try this at home! Takes a lot of practice!”
